HOYA unveils positive results for MiYOSMART Chameleon lenses

HOYA Vision Care Canada, a prominent figure in ophthalmic lens technology, has announced the results of its Early Experience Program, a post-marketing survey evaluating patient experiences with the MiYOSMART Chameleon photochromic lenses.

In addition, the company has launched a promotion allowing eye care providers (ECPs) to purchase Chameleon and MiYOSMART Sunbird polarized lenses at the same price as the clear MiYOSMART lenses.

The Early Experience Program aimed to address questions from eye care professionals and parents about the MiYOSMART Chameleon lenses, gathering data on user adaptation, tolerability across various ages and ethnicities, satisfaction, compliance, and outdoor usage habits.

Findings indicated that nearly 80 percent of users, including teenagers, adapted to the MiYOSMART Chameleon lenses within a day. Users reported high satisfaction with the visual performance of the lenses both indoors and outdoors, appreciating the lenses' ability to fade back to clear in any location.

After three months, 98 percent of participants reported overall satisfaction, confirming the trust eye care professionals place in recommending these lenses for younger patients.

The survey also showed that users of the MiYOSMART Chameleon lenses wore them for an average of 12 hours per day during the week, which included time spent outdoors.

This usage pattern suggests that the lenses could significantly enhance myopia management effectiveness in children by maximizing treatment exposure.

Kim Kochendorfer, RO, Professional Affairs manager at HOYA Vision Care Canada, emphasized the benefits of UV protection and comfort provided by the MiYOSMART Sun Solutions.

“Supported by the results from our Early Experience Program, we highly recommend MiYOSMART Sun Solutions as the ideal way to offer complete sun protection, comfort, and myopia management for young myopic patients,” Kochendorfer stated.

She highlighted the design considerations for children and the lenses' ability to address common family concerns about eye health.

Furthermore, from May 1 through December 31, 2024, HOYA Vision Care Canada is offering MiYOSMART Chameleon and Sunbird lenses to ECPs at the same cost as the MiYOSMART Clear lenses.
