Fiera Capital Corporation is a publicly traded, independent asset manager headquartered in Montreal. The firm manages capital across public and private markets for institutional investors, financial intermediaries, and private wealth clients worldwide. Its AUM totalled $164.1 billion as at December 31, 2025.
Fiera Capital was founded by Jean-Guy Desjardins in September 2003 through the acquisition of Elantis Investment Management, a subsidiary of Desjardins Group. The corporation launched from Montreal with about $5 billion in AUM and 50 employees.
The firm added its first alternative investment strategy in 2005. In 2006, Fiera Capital acquired YMG Capital and more than doubled AUM to over $26 billion.
Two years later, the corporation formed the Fiera Axium Infrastructure joint venture to give institutional clients access to core infrastructure assets. The firm says it also signed the UN PRI in 2009 as an early adopter among Canadian asset managers.
Fiera listed on the TSX in September 2010 under ticker FSZ. In 2012, the company acquired Natcan Investment Management from National Bank and pushed AUM to $54 billion. Shareholders approved a name change that same year, from Fiera Sceptre to Fiera Capital Corporation.
The corporation launched three private markets businesses in 2016. Fiera Comox Partners added agriculture and private equity strategies for institutional clients.
Fiera Infrastructure formed as a joint venture covering utilities, power generation, and transportation assets across NA and EU. Fiera Private Debt also launched that year through the acquisition of non-bank lender Centria Commerce.
In 2019, Fiera Capital Corporation acquired Foresters Asset Management, an Ontario-based liability-driven investment firm with approximately $10.5 billion in AUM. That deal expanded Fiera Capital's presence in the defined benefit pension market.
The corporation marked its 20th anniversary in 2023 and introduced a regionalized distribution model with dedicated CEOs for Canada, the US, EMEA, and Asia. In June 2024, Fiera Capital Corporation management acquired Desjardins stake in a roughly $53 million transaction.
That deal covered 6.8 percent of total outstanding shares and formally ended the founding partnership with Desjardins Group. Two months later, Fiera Capital secured two $300 million mandates from CDPQ as part of the pension fund's goal to reach $8 billion in Quebec-managed investments by 2028.
Fiera Capital delivers investment solutions across public markets, private markets, and multi-asset strategies to institutional, intermediary, and private wealth clients:
Fiera Capital Corporation operates as a pure-play asset manager and does not underwrite insurance or administer group benefit plans. The corporation also produces the CIA Method Accounting Discount Rate Curve with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
