Harvest ETFs is the investment fund brand of Harvest Portfolios Group Inc., a private Canadian fund manager based in Oakville. The firm lists 74 ETFs on the TSX and CBOE across equity income, fixed income, digital assets, and single stock strategies. Its AUM reached $11 billion as at March 31, 2026.
Harvest Portfolios Group Inc. started in 2009 during the global financial crisis. Michael Kovacs, an investment management veteran, studied how markets behaved through the downturn.
He found that companies with solid fundamentals held their ground while others struggled. That idea became the basis for Harvest Portfolios Group when Kovacs founded it later that year.
The firm spent its first seven years running private investment funds out of Oakville. In 2016, it took a bigger step and listed Harvest ETFs on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
That listing gave Canadian retail investors direct access to the firm's covered call income strategy for the first time. From there, Harvest ETFs grew its fund lineup across equity income, fixed income, and specialty categories over the following years.
By 2024, the firm was ready to take its strategy in a new direction. Harvest ETFs rolled out its High Income Shares ETFs that year, a single stock ETF platform designed to pay high monthly income. In 2025, the firm brought that same platform to well-known Canadian companies as underlying holdings.
April 2026 brought a round of fund rebrands, with eight Harvest ETFs taking on new names under an updated naming convention. Since its founding, the firm has paid out $2.5 billion in cumulative distributions to investors, a figure that includes reinvested distributions.
Harvest ETFs offers funds across several income and growth categories:
Harvest ETFs applies covered call option writing across most of its fund categories as its primary income mechanism.
Michael Kovacs founded Harvest Portfolios Group Inc. in 2009 and serves as its CEO and board chair. Before that, he held senior sales and distribution roles at Sentry Select Capital, ING Funds, and AIC Limited. Kovacs studied at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies.
Kovacs leads the firm alongside these senior members of the Harvest ETFs team:
Harvest Portfolios Group runs a team across investment management, operations, compliance, and marketing.
Harvest ETFs serves retail and institutional investors across Canada. Its funds trade on the TSX and Cboe Global Markets, making them accessible to individual investors, financial advisors, and institutional accounts.
The firm covers both ends of the market through its product range and a dedicated vice-president for institutional and national accounts.
Harvest ETFs builds its product lineup around two broad investor needs: monthly income and long-term capital growth. Income-focused investors gravitate toward its covered call strategies, while its specialty and digital asset funds suit those looking for sector-specific growth exposure.
The firm also offers levered and non-levered versions of select funds in both CAD and USD to give investors more flexibility.
The company's investment team contributes regularly to industry conversations on market conditions. Harvest ETFs' portfolio manager Mike Dragosits spoke to BPM in January 2026 about Canadian energy equity and the Venezuela oil market risk. His views are relevant to institutional investors watching Canadian energy sector exposure in their portfolios.
Harvest ETFs has earned recognition for its fund performance and leadership team across independent fund analytics firms and industry publications. The company also supports community organizations in its home city of Oakville.
Harvest ETFs is a corporate sponsor of Kerr Street Mission, a non-profit organization in Oakville. The organization provides food, housing support, and community programs to families and individuals in need.
On the industry side, Mike Dragosits spoke to BPM in 2026 about Fed independence and its impact on fixed income and equity markets. His take helps fixed income investors understand how political pressure on the Fed could reshape rate expectations.
'The structure of the Fed would still make a hostile takeover difficult', says Mike Dragosits
