Over 1,200 employees joined Aon's GLP-1 program, losing 22 pounds on average with high retention

Within six months of launch, more than 1,200 employees enrolled in Aon’s GLP-1 weight management benefit program achieved an average weight loss of 22.4 pounds and a retention rate of 95 percent, according to Aon.
The program, developed by eMed Population Health, Inc., has demonstrated strong adherence and sustainable outcomes.
Building on these results, Aon announced a strategic investment in eMed to expand employer-sponsored access to GLP-1 therapies and scale obesity management solutions.
The partnership will extend the reach of eMed’s digital-first healthcare platform, which integrates at-home diagnostics, proctor-led screenings, clinician-guided prescribing, and adherence support.
Lisa Stevens, chief administrative officer for Aon, said, “It’s been important to include GLP-1 coverage as part of our own US Total Rewards strategy.” She noted that the decision reflects how employer choices today affect the health and performance of their workforces.
Stevens added that the investment positions the firm to help employers reduce long-term health costs while improving quality of life, noting that aligning innovation with behaviour change and accountability can deliver sustainable results at scale.
eMed called the collaboration a milestone in its mission to deliver integrated and data-driven care.
Linda Yaccarino, CEO of eMed, said that Aon’s investment allows eMed to focus on medication adherence, with the aim of helping employers manage long-term health costs.
Earlier this year, Aon released findings from its multi-year analysis of US commercial health claims data, which highlighted the potential of GLP-1 medications to manage obesity and improve outcomes.
Farheen Dam, head of health for North America at Aon, said, “The rise of GLP-1 medications and its cost has sparked significant strategic considerations from employers looking to address obesity and other chronic conditions.”
She added that GLP-1s are not a one-size-fits-all strategy, and that Aon uses data, modelling, and input from clinical, actuarial, and pharmacy teams to help employers shape their approach.
