Science&Humans deal brings virtual consultations and a year of clinical follow-up to members
Seven specialized support programs covering hormonal and metabolic health now sit inside iA Financial Group's group benefits offering through a partnership with Science&Humans, a Canadian hormonal and metabolic health platform.
According to iA Financial Group, the care path runs from an online medical assessment through testing, virtual consultations with a clinician, a personalized treatment plan, and one year of continuous clinical follow-up.
Plan members also receive unlimited access to a healthcare professional and medical messaging services, iA said, along with home delivery of prescribed medications or pickup at a pharmacy of their choice where required.
The seven programs cover women's reproductive health, men's reproductive health, women's hormonal health, men's hormonal health, perimenopause and menopause, andropause, and weight optimization.
iA said the program carries a preferred rate, and that eligible expenses may qualify for reimbursement through a health spending account depending on the terms of the plan.
Canadians wait more than six months on average to access specialized care, according to figures iA cited in announcing the partnership.
The release put the share of men affected by metabolic syndrome, a major contributor to cardiovascular disease and mortality, at more than one in four, or 27 percent.
iA also cited annual productivity losses of $237m borne by Canadian employers because of menopause-related health issues.
Hormonal and metabolic health challenges affect energy, focus, mood, sleep, and mental wellbeing, "yet they often go unrecognized in the workplace," said Louis-Philippe Pouliot, executive vice-president, group benefits and retirement solutions at iA Financial Group.
Pouliot said the aim is to support organizations and their workforces from prevention through recovery.
Impacts of hormonal and metabolic health issues extend beyond the individual to absenteeism, disability rates, organizational productivity, and long-term costs borne by group insurance plans.
Specialized care for hormonal and metabolic symptoms is hard to reach and hard to navigate, said Aftab Pashaw, co-founder and chief executive officer of Science&Humans, in the release.
Pashaw said those symptoms affect wellbeing and the ability to function day to day, and the partnership is built to close that gap.
The partnership builds on enhancements iA made to its women's health and weight-management offering in 2025, according to the insurer, and introduces its first structured initiative focused on men's health.
iA said the hormonal and metabolic support complements existing drug coverage and paramedical services with specialized clinical guidance.
