The $280 million deal hands the investor sole ownership two years after its first stake
La Caisse will pay $280m to acquire Transurban's remaining 50 percent interest in the A25 Concession, taking its ownership from 50 percent to 100 percent
The deal makes La Caisse the sole owner of the 7.2-km link, which consists of a highway and toll bridge in Greater Montréal's transportation network.
The transaction follows La Caisse's 2023 investment, when it acquired a 50 percent stake in the A25 Concession from Transurban.
By becoming sole owner, La Caisse gains "greater flexibility" in managing an asset it knows well, said Emmanuel Jaclot, executive vice-president and head of infrastructure and sustainability.
The A25 Concession, one of just two P3 toll roads in Québec, links eastern Montréal to growing economic areas on the North Shore, he said.
After the transaction, Plenary Americas, a La Caisse portfolio company, will support the asset's day-to-day operations.
Plenary Americas develops, manages and operates infrastructure assets, particularly under public-private partnership models, and runs multiple road assets across North America, according to the investment group.
The transaction will not affect A25 customers.
Payment methods and customer support channels, including the website and service centre, will continue to operate as usual.
