The pension plan builds a new dual role based in Singapore from January 2027
Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has placed oversight of its Asia-Pacific investing activities and portfolio management under Olivia Steedman from January 1, 2027, a newly established dual role she will hold alongside leadership of the plan’s innovation investing arm.
The plan announced the appointment on last Thursday, saying Steedman will serve as executive managing director, Teachers’ Venture Growth and head, Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore.
“[Steedman] is very well-positioned to serve as a strong leader in this newly established dual role,” said Stephen McLennan, chief investment officer, asset allocation at the Toronto-based plan, in the announcement.
McLennan said in the same release that Steedman “brings over 20 years of expertise across asset classes via senior roles initially in Infrastructure & Natural Resources and, since 2019, overseeing our very successful Teachers’ Venture Growth platform.”
McLennan also said Steedman “has a proven ability to lead high-performing teams which both TVG and our APAC region will benefit from under her leadership going forward.”
Steedman joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2002 as a founding member of the Infrastructure and Natural Resources group and stood up Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG) in 2019, her LinkedIn profile states.

Her profile states she was an assistant vice-president in the project finance and privatization group at PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining the plan.
Steedman’s effective date is the same day Cathy Cranston takes over as board chair, succeeding Steve McGirr under the July 16 announcement.
