Celine Chiovitti hosts conversations on money, work, retirement and purpose across life stages
OMERS has launched the fourth season of The Pension Blueprint, the Canadian pension plan's podcast on retirement, financial wellbeing and the role pensions play in long-term financial security.
The season is hosted by OMERS chief pension officer Celine Chiovitti and examines how people experience money, work, retirement and purpose at different stages of life.
The announcement lists financial literacy, pension modernization, workplace wellbeing, gender equity, public service careers and retirement among the topics, along with how pension plans are adapting to support current and future members.
Chiovitti said in the announcement that "people's lives, careers and retirement journeys are changing."
She added that the goal is to help members understand their pension and feel confident about "the future they are building."
Guests this season include personal finance experts Rob Carrick and Shannon Lee Simmons, OMERS AC board director Diane Kazarian, investigative journalist and author Moira Welsh, behavioural scientist Thomas Post, retirement researcher Michelle Silver, leaders from international pension organizations, public sector employers and subject matter experts from across OMERS.
OMERS describes three thematic strands for the season.
The first, on the future of retirement, addresses longer lifespans, evolving career paths and shifting expectations, with guests exploring purpose, wellbeing and lifelong learning.
The second covers financial decision-making, saving and investing, behavioural science, financial literacy and women's financial security.
The third examines pension modernization through conversations with leaders from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom on service, education and engagement.
The season opens with OMERS president and CEO Blake Hutcheson.
The episode page on OMERS says Hutcheson discusses navigating global economic and political uncertainty, diversification and long-term thinking, why OMERS is seeing greater investment opportunities in Canada, and the value of a defined benefit pension.
A second episode features Domenic Maugeri, secretary-treasurer of CUPE Local 416; Amy Parker, manager of total compensation and HR systems, human resources, at the City of Guelph; and Wendy Stephanson, city manager for the City of Ottawa, on attracting and retaining the next generation of municipal employees.
A third episode features Carrick, co-host of The Globe and Mail personal finance podcast Stress Test, and Simmons, a certified financial planner and personal finance columnist on CBC's Metro Morning, on social media and saving, the omers.com listing says.
New episodes will be released through the fall and will be available on their website, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.
