The DB pension administrator taps its chief pension officer to lead the organization as Darwin Bozek heads into retirement
The Ontario Pension Board (OPB) has announced Marc Rondeau as their new president and CEO, effective Nov. 15.
The administrator of the Public Service Pension Plan, a defined benefit pension plan, announced the decision in a press release on Wednesday.
“Marc brings a combination of executive leadership, pension expertise, financial stewardship, and an understanding of the environment in which OPB operates. With an ambitious path forward in place and significant opportunities ahead, the Board is confident that Marc is well positioned to lead OPB into its next chapter," said OPB’s chair Grant B. Walsh.
As OPB’s executive vice-president and chief pension officer, Rondeau drove efforts to bolster the plan’s long-term funding health, support sustainable growth and set the organization’s strategic direction. His experience with the Public Service Pension Plan from both the plan sponsor and administrator sides gives him a broad vantage point as he steps into the top role, OPB said in the release.
“Retirement security starts with trust. Members need confidence in the long-term financial performance and sustainability of their plan, and that they're receiving the information and support necessary to make important retirement decisions,” said Rondeau in a statement provided to BPM.
“At OPB, we're continuing to invest in service excellence, education, and modernization so we can better support our members throughout their careers and into retirement. That's work I'm proud to continue as OPB’s next President & CEO,” he added.
Rondeau succeeds Darwin Bozek, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Bozek will remain as a special advisor to support a smooth transition, the organization said in the release.
